Sorry it has taken me awhile to write this back, but I really wanted to let you know that your class did help me greatly.  I went from 4cm to pushing in about 50 minutes and even with the epidural I felt every pressure and him descending.  So it only took the immediate pain away.  I started to lose it, I started to hyperventilate thinking that I couldn't catch my breath.  It was happening so fast that all I could do was tell them to get a dr in there to check me and that I couldn't catch my breath.

It was the nurse telling me to slow down that it triggered the first thing you guys taught us in the class and it was a breathing exercise that Kari taught, breath in "slow" breath out "down" and it totally worked.  When I thought of the words 'slow down' I immediately started to breath slower.  And probably saved me from passing out.  And got me to slow down and concentrate.

Your class also helped me to have a louder voice.  I totally expressed what I did and did not want.  And was shocked at how great they all were to my requests.  I wasn't one of those ladies laying down delivering, I got to sit and deliver which, I tell ya, I only pushed once and he was out.  Fast fast fast.

I also used alot of the positions while labouring.  I used the ball which I have to say is the best thing especially since I had to be hooked up to the monitor the whole time.  I was able to sit on the ball and not be bed ridden.

So thank you both for such a wonderful and very informative class.  Even after four kids you think you know everything there is to know about labour and delivery but after taking your class I felt so empowered and excited to go in.  I felt like I knew way more than I started with and it turned out that my labour and delivery showed it.

Testimonials

Hi Lisa,

Wasn't sure how to blog straight to the site so I'll leave this

for you to post. Apologies for the length, but really this is

the short version. The full version would really have to

start the day our daughter Abby was born as I've realized

that that experience and all subsequent emotional, psychological and physical experiences have

 prepared me for this birth.

Can't thank you and Kari enough for the class. It really was the difference between a birth based in fear or trust. Luckily the latter prevailed.

With love and gratitude,
Jenn, Darren, Abby and Benjamin

Text Box: The classes and the meeting with you and Kari played a huge role in how Lucas' birth played out.  The classes really got me to look at my first birth experience and deal with the issues/fears surrounding it.  It really brought to light issues and fears I was avoiding.  And all the information provide during the class really hit home.  Even though I had read books during my first pregnancy, this time making sure I was more knowledgeable about birth was much more important to me, as I had experienced first hand what could happen once the medical model started to intervene.  So the class really got me thinking and encouraged me to take a more active role in my birth...especially if I wanted to have the birth experience I wanted.

Text Box: The meeting with you and Kari and both of your support through out the class and up to my birth is what I am most thankful for.  It allowed me to share my story and it allowed me to feel heard.  I felt believed in and supported.  You both trusted in my birth, which helped me to trust in it as well.  Its hard to put into words what the two of you did for me...you both are amazing people and what you do for women is so important.

Text Box: I don't know if that really answered your question :)  I honestly think I was more comfortable this time around do to experience, determination, being more knowledgeable and feeling supported.
