Sorry it has taken me awhile to write this back, but I really wanted to let you know that your class did help me greatly. I went from 4cm to pushing in about 50 minutes and even with the epidural I felt every pressure and him descending. So it only took the immediate pain away. I started to lose it, I started to hyperventilate thinking that I couldn't catch my breath. It was happening so fast that all I could do was tell them to get a dr in there to check me and that I couldn't catch my breath. |
It was the nurse telling me to slow down that it triggered the first thing you guys taught us in the class and it was a breathing exercise that Kari taught, breath in "slow" breath out "down" and it totally worked. When I thought of the words 'slow down' I immediately started to breath slower. And probably saved me from passing out. And got me to slow down and concentrate. |
Your class also helped me to have a louder voice. I totally expressed what I did and did not want. And was shocked at how great they all were to my requests. I wasn't one of those ladies laying down delivering, I got to sit and deliver which, I tell ya, I only pushed once and he was out. Fast fast fast. |
I also used alot of the positions while labouring. I used the ball which I have to say is the best thing especially since I had to be hooked up to the monitor the whole time. I was able to sit on the ball and not be bed ridden. |
So thank you both for such a wonderful and very informative class. Even after four kids you think you know everything there is to know about labour and delivery but after taking your class I felt so empowered and excited to go in. I felt like I knew way more than I started with and it turned out that my labour and delivery showed it. Christine, Mother of 5

Hi Lisa,
for you to post. Apologies for the length, but really this is the short version. The full version would really have to start the day our daughter Abby was born as I've realized that that experience and all subsequent emotional, psychological and physical experiences have prepared me for this birth.

We have a secret in our culture, and it's not that birth is painful. It's that women are strong. - Laura Stavoe Harm |
